Poppy Seeds Buns.

These are delightful and easy to make (apart from the dough part).

Poppy seeds are a bit tricky as apparently they may contain some amounts of opium, and not recommended if you have to take a drug test. On a positive note, my dog was barking like crazy the other night for hours, and i decided to give her one bun. She slept deeply almost immediately, i would say you shouldn’t drive after consumption…lol.

Ingredients:

Dough as per a recipe here.

Poppy seed filling:

Poppy seeds -140 g, you can use less.

Milk- 1 cup.

Sugar- 3 tablespoons.

Vanilla sugar- 1 teaspoon.

Egg yolk- 1-2 bitten.

Directions:

In a pot heat milk and poppy seeds for 5 minuets. Cover and set aside for an hour.

Drain thoroughly, and process in a blender/processor with sugar and vanilla sugar.

Divide the dough in two parts. Roll one part in a flat square  3 mm thick. Spread the poppy mixture on a dough.

Roll it to a sausage/snake shape. And cut 3-4 cm pieces.

Put the buns on a foil lined baking tray and put some egg yolk on the top of each piece.

Bake at 225 C for around 20 minuets or till nice and golden.
