Trump releases new 'sickening,' 'racist' campaign ad | Campaign Trail

The widows of two police officers the Mexican immigrant murdered were invited to President Donald Trump's 2017 address to Congress.

With only a few days left until the midterm election, Donald Trump has stepped up his anti-immigration, fear-mongering, polarizing tactics with a blatantly racist new ad that even has some conservatives finally saying he's gone too far.

The ad includes footage of Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican man who entered the U.S. illegally and killed two police officers in Sacramento in 2014, despite having been deported twice before.

The 53-second video includes expletives uttered by Bracamontes during his trial as he professed regret at not killing more officers.

"Who else would Democrats let in?" asks the ad, which Trump tweeted late on Wednesday.

Bracamontes is a ruthless murderer who made headlines for his lack of remorse and violent outbursts in court, but what the video wanted viewers to focus on is that he was in the United States illegally at the time of his daylong crime spree.

TV news outlets spent last night and this morning comparing the video to one used so effectively in 1988 by George H.W. Bush's camp to kneecap Dem presidential candidate Michael Dukakis.

Horton was a convicted murderer who committed rape while furloughed under a programme in MA where Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis was governor.

The video was produced for the Trump campaign.

.

"It is outrageous what the Democrats are doing to our Country", Trump tweeted with the video.

Meanwhile, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who is known to criticize the president's rhetoric, told CNN's Jake Tapper that the ad represented a "new low in campaigning". Thirty years later, critics say Trump is hoping the same sort of propaganda will work for him, although his approach is clearly not much better.

"This is distracting, divisive Donald at his worst", said Tom Perez, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, while appearing on Cuomo Prime Time.

The dark video stood in stark contrast to an ad circulated by the Trump campaign earlier in the week that highlighted rosy economic numbers and depicted gauzy scenes of American suburban life.

That ad was part of a blitz by Mr Trump's campaign, and his campaign manager, Brad Parscale, did several interviews to promote it. The man also featured in a January video tied to the anniversary of Trump's January 20, 2017 inauguration.

Bracamontes' case - he was sentenced to death in March - also received steady coverage on Breitbart and other right-wing news sites.
