Saudi Arabia is reportedly ready to concede that a missing Saudi writer was killed in its consulate in Istanbul.

And so what the statement will say, according to the CNN report, is that Mohammed bin Salman might have been aware of the rendition, but wasn't responsible for the murder.

While the search was being carried out, CNN and the New York Times reported that Saudi Arabia was preparing to acknowledge Khashoggi's death in a botched interrogation and U.S. President Donald Trump speculated "rogue killers" may be responsible.

Turkish officials have said they believe he was killed - a claim Saudi Arabia has denied - with the controversy dealing a huge blow to the kingdom's image and efforts by its crown prince to showcase a reform drive.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said today he has real concerns about allegations linked to the disappearance of prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a man who has written extensively about human rights abuses by the oil-rich kingdom's ruling royal family.

"Pelosi also cited Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's planned trip to a financial conference in Riyadh, despite many having pulled out, and added, "[Trump's] relationship with Saudi Arabia is something".

Khashoggi wrote for The Washington Post opinion pages.

Reporters waiting outside the consulate in Istanbul's Levent district said early October 16 that Turkish crime scene investigators turned off all the lights and surveyed the interior of the Saudi consulate with a special blue light used in forensics probes.

President Donald Trump told reporters Monday that he was aware of the report but did not know if it was correct.

The sales are a "tremendous order for our companies", and if the Saudis don't buy their weaponry from the USA, they will get it from others, he said.

It was unclear if the boycott call was aimed at users of Uber's service or investors in the company, or both, and whether Bahrain is planning other measures against the company.

Endeavor Content is considering withdrawing from a $400 million Saudi investment in the company, following the disappearance - and suspected murder - of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The organiser insisted the conference would go ahead, with more than 150 speakers confirmed.

Similar campaigns trended on social media in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
