Police said Monday they had reopened an investigation into a rape accusation made by a former model who says soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo attacked her in his Las Vegas hotel penthouse suite in 2009.

After the alleged rape, Mayorga filed a report with Las Vegas Police and went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination.

The complaint alleges that Mayorga was coerced into signing a nondisclosure agreement in 2010 in an out-of-court settlement in exchange for $375,000.

According to Der Spiegel, an earlier version of the questionnaire he was asked to fill out allegedly includes an admission from Ronaldo that "she said no and stop several times".

"What they said today, fake - fake news", the footballer said.

She told the outlet she didn't want to relive her trauma in court, so they settled on their own.

"Ninety-nine percent of me is a good guy, I just don't know about the other 1%", he reportedly told her as he fell to his knees.

Ronaldo's attorney, Christian Schertz, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. In reality, the lawsuit claims, his team was attempting to obstruct a criminal investigation and erode Mayorga's credibility, thus diminishing her chances of pursuing a claim for civil damages. Ronaldo had taken her by the arm and insisted she join his friends before convincing her to let him buy her a drink.

Ms Mayorga, 34, is reported to have filed a rape report with Las Vegas police shortly after the alleged incident.

"A medical exam was conducted. He wouldn't let me leave", she said. She says she struggled to maintain relationships or hold down a job.

She told the publication she didn't process what happened until she got into her auto. However, upon Der Spiegel's reporting on the documents previous year, Ronaldo's lawyers denied the existence of the letter, leading Mayorga's current legal representation to question if the settlement was ever fulfilled. Mayorga said she refused, but that Ronaldo pulled her into a bedroom and raped her as she screamed, "No, no, no".

According to Der Spiegel, the money that was paid to Mayorga as part of the settlement came from a bank account in the tax haven of British Virgin Islands, registered to a company that had held Ronaldo's earnings from advertising and sponsorship.

The alleged assault occurred in the summer that Ronaldo left Manchester United for Real Madrid to become the then most expensive player in the world.

Ronaldo's girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, is standing by him as well.
