While Tropical Depression Kirk bears watching, system between Bermuda, Bahamas could develop

Tropical depression forms in the Atlantic; three other disturbances tracked Tropical Depression Eleven has formed. But there’s a more concerning storm out there | Bradenton Herald

At 5 a.m., the center of the storm was located near 9.1 degrees north, 28.0 degrees west or about 465 miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The Met Office urges residents to please monitor and have your hurricane plan prepared, in case it is needed.

Forecasters say the system is likely to dissipate within a day or two. According to the NHC, this system is now being hindered by some upper-level winds, but those winds are expected to die down in the next couple of days, giving the system a chance for some development.

The latest National Hurricane Center Kirk storm track is still closely following a blend of the GFS, ECMWF, and HFIP Corrected Consensus model along the southern edge of the guidance envelope. This media house does not correct any spelling or grammatical error within press releases and commentaries. The depression had been approaching the Lesser Antilles but thanks to hostile winds only a cyclonic wisp of clouds remained.

A subtropical storms means the system has characteristics of both tropical and nontropical systems.

"A reduction in speed is likely after 48 hours once Kirk moves south of a large central Atlantic trough, but it should still be moving along at a pretty good clip".

The center is also monitoring a newly formed tropical storm, Leslie, which on Sunday afternoon was located about 1,000 miles west-southwest of the Azores. The disturbance was battling wind shear just as TD 11 and won't be developing over the next day or so.

The latest satellite pass over the storm, thousands of miles out in the North Atlantic, showed a hybrid system that's a mix between a tropical storm and the more common storm systems we see all the time. Its maximum sustained winds were at 40 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center. Follow WBRZ Weather on Facebook and Twitter for even more weather updates while you are on the go.
