Lawyers for the 81-year-old, legally blind Cosby will no doubt stress his age, health problems, legacy and philanthropy as they plead to keep him at home, while prosecutors hope to call other accusers to paint Cosby as a sexual predator deserving of prison. Constand tweeted a Bible verse on Monday morning prior to the sentencing that read, "Be wrathful, but do not sin; do not let the sun set while you are still angry; do not give the Devil an opportunity".

The 81-year-old comedian faces years in prison for drugging and assaulting Constand in his suburban Philadelphia home.

Constand, who had gotten to know Cosby when she was managing the women's basketball team at Temple University, testified that the TV star gave her three blue pills, which caused her to pass out. He could get up to 10 years in prison for each conviction, but prosecutors have indicated they are likely to ask for a lesser sentence.

At Cosby's trial, five women besides Constand testified that he had assaulted them.

But before he was convicted in April, Cosby's first trial in 2017 ended with a hung jury.

Jurors convicted Cosby of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand without consent, while she was impaired and after incapacitating her.

Actor and Comedian Bill Cosby arrives with his spokesman Andrew Wyatt at the Montgomery County Courthouse for sentencing in his sexual assault trial in Norristown, Pennsylvania, U.S. September 24, 2018.

While the judge will ultimately have the final say in Cosby's punishment, the potential consequences for Cosby's crimes allow for many options.

Since the April verdicts, Cosby has not been permitted to leave his Pennsylvania home.

Another Cosby accuser, Chelan Lasha, said he "deserves every year" of his potential 30-year sentence.

Bill Cosby has arrived at court to face the prospect of spending the rest of his life in jail for drugging and molesting a woman. District Attorney Kevin Steele wants some of them to speak at the sentencing.

Prosecutors told Judge Steven O'Neill the law is necessary for public safety, and the judge allowed the hearing on Cosby's status to proceed.

O'Neill, who is married and has three adult sons, took the bench in 2002. That dynamic is on display in the controversy surrounding U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Tuerkheimer said, with Kavanaugh and his allies denying allegations from a woman that he sexually assaulted her in high school.

The former entertainer - once known for his starring role on The Cosby Show - has never admitted guilt.

His wife Camille Cosby recently claimed that that O'Neill is biased against her husband in a state ethics complaint.
