Minutes Chief Jeff Fager Out at CBS

Story alleges a darker side of'60 Minutes Story alleges a darker side of'60 Minutes

News on today fired "60 Minutes" top executive Jeff Fager, who has been under investigation following reports that he groped women at parties and tolerated an abusive workplace.

In an internal memo, CBS News president David Rhodes said the departure was "not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports".

Perhaps not, but it's impossible to isolate these two things: Duncan received this message of arrogance and entitlement - indeed, a threat - because she wanted to know whether Fager really did view company functions as feel-copping expeditions. "Be careful", Fager wrote, according to Duncan.

Chen expressed support for her husband of over 13 years on July 27th, when she tweeted: "Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader".

Jeff Fager, the executive producer of the flagship CBS news program, "60 Minutes", has left the network.

Moonves said in a statement that "untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am".

CBS News says that 60 Minutes Executive Producer Jeff Fager is out of a job. In it, the writer and producer alleged that the network's newly ousted former CEO, Les Moonves, clearly had it out for her, as he had for Janet Jackson and the many women he's been accused of sexually harassing and worse. Fager has denied the claims.

Her absence came one day after Moonves resigned as the chairman and CEO of CBS after at least 12 women came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct in a pair of New Yorker articles authored by Pulitzer Prize victor Ronan Farrow, published on Sunday. Would the company have cashiered Fager for that mere offense, absent the underlying claims?

The investigation into Fager by an outside law firm is not complete.

Fager and Rhodes had worked for several years as a team, when Fager was appointed CBS News chairman by Moonves. The programme 60 Minutes, which airs on Sunday evenings, was first broadcast in 1968.

If the information in her editorial checks out (and it does align with other accusations against Moonves), there are probably a lot of other women out there who would like to do the same.

In the op-ed, Bloodworth Thomason mentions an incident involving Moonves and "a famous actress" that took place in the CBS dining room. He has been at CBS News for more than 35 years. It could also be that she is making a statement to the network that she isn't going anywhere, no matter what controversy might be attached to Leslie Moonves.

Their exits follow Charlie Rose, the former co-host of "CBS This Morning". Also one day since Chen and Moonves may have seen that report that board members have privately said it is all but certain the company will pay Moonves none of that $120M exit package.
