Steelers' Le'Veon Bell expected to miss Week 1

LeVeon Bell walking on the field Steelers teammates turn on Le'Veon Bell: 'He f--ked us'
Domingo Copeland | 06 September, 2018, 23:41

That news did not go over well with a few Steelers teammates, specifically the offensive linemen who help pave the way for the Pro Bowl running back. Although Bell is one of the NFL's most valuable, versatile and, therefore, hardest-to-replace players, Pittsburgh is fortunate to have an offense capable of handling Bell's absence for multiple games. The team appeared hopeful he would report this week - as he did past year to end his holdout when Week 1 began - but with Sunday's opener against the Browns looming, his support appears to be losing steam.

Now, somebody will pay him next year and the loyal fans of our city feel cheated by not having Bell fully this year or see him go into Steeler lore as one of the best RB we have ever had.

"I just felt confident that he was gonna come", center Maurkice Pouncey said Wednesday. We're not anxious, they said. If he does decide to hold out until that date, Bell will lose slightly more than $8.5 million of his $14.544 million tag.

The Steelers have said they are "disappointed" that Bell hasn't signed, but their front office is as much to blame for this mess.

And while Bell's agent took to the airwaves to vaguely explain Bell's reasoning for staying away, the men Bell has played alongside for the past five years are starting to run out of patience.

As it becomes more likely Bell will miss the Steelers' season opener against the Cleveland Browns, Bell's teammates appear to be losing patience.

Ohtani still unbelievable: Despite being told he needed Tommy John surgery earlier in the day, Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two home runs last night. One person doesn't make or break you.

Bell has not stepped foot in the Steelers' facilities in nearly eight months.

Agent Adisa Bakari, who represents Bell, told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday that his client will "get there when he's there" and still intends to make this the best statistical season of his career. Jesse James, who's dealing with a back injury, has done an admirable job of being mostly a matchup-based red zone target for Roethlisberger. Pouncey added, "A star is born every year in the NFL". [James] Conner looks great.

Bell has not signed a $14.5 million tender as the team's designated franchise player, and it's unclear when he plans to return to the team. "I want to take him down multiple times".

Whatever Bell's plan is, he isn't telling. We're going to have to keep an eye on him, two eyes.
