Brock Lesnar confronts UFC Champion Daniel Cormier, announces return to MMA

Brock Lesnar, cageside at UFC 226, challenges Daniel Cormier Watch: Daniel Cormier Predicted Exactly How He Would KO Stipe Miocic
Diane Mills | 09 July, 2018, 03:59

He became only the second fighter to hold belts in different weight classes simultaneously after knocking out Stipe Miocic in the first round of their heavyweight title bout at UFC 226.

Miocic, of Cleveland, landed a handful of right hands in the fight, but Cormier's hand speed stood out.

"Now there's a guy who I've known for a long time", he began.

"I'm 39-years-old and I've been second a lot of times but today, I finally accomplished everything".

'Maybe Gustafsson fights well in August, but last time (Alexander) Gustafsson and I fought we made no money.

Lesnar's challenge to Cormier seems to have confirmed (or at least fuelled) rumours that the pair will clash in Madison Square Garden in November.

Cormier grabbed the mic and declared: "You can shove me now and go to sleep later!"

"[Francis] Ngannou is a piece of shit, Miocic is a piece of shit. Miocic, the piece of sh***", Lesnar said. UFC President Dana White has gone on record by saying that the plan is to make this fight happen but did not give an official date for it to happen. Lesnar's one-year ban for a failed drugs test surrounding his last UFC fight against Mark Hunt ended last year. However, Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance and was suspended for a year. "I never knew what I could become but tonight I got the answer: Heavyweight champion, baby!"

The preliminary card saw a host of decision wins, but there were standout stoppage wins for lightweight Dan "The Hangman" Hooker and middleweight Paulo "The Eraser" Costa.

Lesnar is still under contract with the WWE until August and has yet to enter into the USADA testing pool, which would force him to be tested for six months before fighting again.

White said "Yes", on Thursday when asked by Yahoo Sports if he expected Lesnar to return. But I don't know if he's going to be around.
