A host of National Basketball Association players were involved in a massive brawl Monday night in the Philippines, as Australia saw its FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifier against the island nation turn sour.

Once two Philippines players fouled out, the game was down to five-on-one-so the refs called it, sealing the Aussies' massive win. With most of its roster thrown out of the game, the Philippines was forced to play the rest of the third period with just three players.

Basketball Australia CEO Anthony Moore apologised to fans in a statement released just before 1am.

The scariest scenes were under the basket where a swarm of Philippine players and fans crowded Goulding and teammate Nathan Sobey, the TV footage was blurred at times but some shots showed flurries of punches being thrown at the grounded players. "We are hosting this game, and this is basketball". The benches from both teams emptied onto the floor and Milwaukee Bucs player Thon Maker was caught in the middle. Blatche, Terrence Romeo, Jayson Castro, Carl Bryan Cruz, Calvin Abueva, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright were the nine players disqualified from the Philippines team.

A free-for-all on-court melee took place at the third window match between the Philippines and Australia in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. "We are extremely disappointed with what happened and our role in it", Moore said. That resulted in a forfeit with Australia winning 89-53.

Four Australian and nine Filipino players were ejected after the fight, and referees had to be flanked by police during a review of the brawl.

For those who don't believe basketball can be a violent sport, allow us to introduce you to the worldwide game. At the end of this we will await for the referees' decision. The Bucks said they would have no comment about Maker.
