Aliou Cissé is the coach of Senegal's World Cup team.

Senegal may have the most respectful supporters in the world.

The search for the World Cup's most polite fans is down to two finalists: Japan and Senegal.

Once the match was over, they were seen picking up litter showcasing Japanese values of respecting and protecting the environment in front of all football spectators.

"It's going to be a hard match with Japan after this Polish match..." As the tournament has arguably failed to spark into life by the end of the first full week of games, Wednesday's three 1-0s has taken the total of such scorelines up to nine - just three shy of the entire total from Brazil 2014.

Not even a win for Senegal in their first Group H in Moscow on Tuesday could temper an otherwise disaster-filled opening six days of the tournament for African hopes.

In the match where odds were stacked against the island nation, the Japanese took advantage of Colombia's 10-man squad after defender Carlos Sanchez earned the first red card of the championship for a blatant handball.

The on and off the pitch action of the Senegalese have turned them into the darling of many soccer fans now praying for them to do well in Russian Federation just like they did in Korea/Japan.

In an interview with BBC, a Japan-based soccer journalist said, "An important aspect of Japanese society is making sure everything is absolutely clean and that's the case in all sporting events".

Winless in their six previous World Cup games on European soil, Japan went ahead in the opening minutes thanks to a Shinji Kagawa penalty.

He said: "You often hear people say that football is a reflection of culture".

And Senegal weren't the only fans to show their humble side. Die Mannschaft beat Costa Rica 4-2 in a thriller in Munich, followed up by a 1-0 win over Poland.
