Meghan, who married the monarch's grandson in a glittering ceremony at her Windsor Castle home last month, traveled by the Royal Train to northwest England for a day of events.

Pinterest boards all over the world were being filled with images of the duchess of Sussex's breath-taking gown. Meanwhile, the Queen stood out in her lime green coat and matching hat. It's like Meghan's been doing this her whole life! It has been reported that the former actress stopped the Queen just shy of entering the vehicle to ask her, "What's your preference?" though it appears that the mishap was not all Markle's fault.

The two seemed to get on well throughout the day, with Meghan whispering into the Queen's ear during a musical performance by local schoolchildren, and both smiling broadly throughout.

They then visited the Storyhouse cultural centre in Chester, to meet a group helping Syrian refugees, watch a performance by a dance theatre group called Fallen Angels, for people recovering from addictions, and inspect a new children's library.

Another royal insider supported Fitzwilliams' statement and said that the Queen is very loyal to her country so she will only step down in case she gets sick and is unable to fulfill her duties. Good question: It's actually a multi-million dollar form of transport that's only available to the queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla.

They were greeted as they arrived at Runcorn station, where Meghan said: "I'm very happy to be here".

So, does the Queen have a soft spot for Meghan? "She's clearly adjusting to the British royal family, learning the culture, politics, verbiage, dress, etiquette and even the protocol".

The itinerary for the US-born former actress and the 92-year-old monarch included officially opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge, a £1.86 billion six lane toll crossing created to ease traffic between Runcorn and Widnes. "The queen is not usually prone to laughter in public, but in these photos, while everyone else is reserved, the queen and Meghan are laughing it up".
