Federal investigators raided Cohen's office, hotel and apartment last month with search warrants partially obtained after a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller.

"I either want you to participate, or not be in the matter at all", Wood told Avenatti, according to Courthouse News, who had a reporter in the hearing.

She said almost 300,000 items, including 12,543-pages of hard-copy documents in eight boxes, have already been turned over to prosecutors.

The judge set a deadline of June 15th for Cohen's lawyers to turn over materials they have received from the feds to a "special master" hired to determine which documents are privileged and therefore off limits to the feds.

Cohen's lawyers asked to be allowed to review materials from the April 9 raids of Cohen's office and home until mid-July, but Wood said she had to balance their needs to protect their client with the need of prosecutors to pursue their criminal fraud case against Cohen.

We also found out prosecutors are trying to piece together documents from a shredder acquired during the raid.

Michael Cohen's legal team says dossier released by Stormy Daniels" lawyer includes information about other people named Michael Cohen; reaction on "The Ingraham Angle'.

Wood also noted that Avenatti could potentially affect whether or not Cohen is given a fair trial if the case ever gets far.

He previously filed a motion to weigh in on this case, too.

But he withdrew the request after a court hearing Wednesday in NY in which a judge told him that while he is free to speak out now, he would have to end his "publicity tour on TV and elsewhere" if he entered the case. They also said it was likely that they belonged to Cohen's wife, which surprised federal prosecutors from the U.S. attorney's office, who said that they were not previously made aware of that information.

Ryan's complaints weren't limited to Avenatti's TV appearances. Avenatti has taken to Twitter in current weeks to accuse each Cohen and Trump of varied types of corruption unrelated to the civil case Daniels filed towards Trump in California, and he has sought to intervene within the federal case towards Cohen in NY whereas utilizing courtroom appearances to proceed his public campaign towards them. Avenatti has said that Clifford is not represented by Eagan Avenatti, his former law firm, which was just hit with a $10 million judgment by a federal bankruptcy court.

Prosecutor Rachel Maimim said the two Blackberries are now being hacked in the FBI's Quantico headquarters and suggested that the feds are slowly piecing back together the contents to the shredder, which Maimim said were "not voluminous at all". Trump denies it. Daniels was not in court Wednesday. He said this was "very surprising and disturbing to me" as an attorney for Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.

One of Cohen's attorneys, Stephen Ryan, claimed Avenatti had committed a "drive-by shooting" against the president's old "fixer" when he released "Suspicious Activity Reports" earlier this month that detailed monies paid to Cohen's shell company, Essential Consultants, for advice on how to lobby Trump.

Ryan said Avenatti had "published that information gratuitously".

"The irony of that, your honor, is fairly palpable", Avenatti said.

"We continue to communicate with the fine [attorneys] of the SDNY on a regular basis as part of our cooperation with the [government] investigation", he said in another tweet.
