Roseanne Barr has blamed sleeping pills for a tweet that led to the cancellation of her hit show, but the drug company says "racism is not a known side effect".

Discussing Barr's recent remarks - and the media scrutiny surrounding them - he said, "I don't know anything about it".

On the end of the series: "It had to happen".

On feeling it wouldn't last long: "I was not surprised that what went down and that the show was canceled". A little controversy improves ratings, but supporting your star when she makes blatantly racist comments is just bad press. In any other industry, if you go to bat for your friend and join hands with them in a business deal only for them to screw you over that is your loss.

In the aftermath of the Valerie Jarrett tweet, the backlash against Roseanne Barr has been swift. "Today my words caused hundreds of hardworking people to lose their jobs", she said.

Barr has posted more than a hundred tweets since "Roseanne" was canceled, and many of them are defiant. She got bronchitis, she was overworked, I think she was stressing the f-k out.

Roseanne's show was cancelled after she referred to Jarrett as an "ape" and suggested she was a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood political movement.

In short, Monday night, Barr - apparently while on Ambien - tweeted and then deleted a racist post about former Obama aid Valerie Jarrett, who is African American. He was also unfamiliar with rumors of a Dan Conner-centric Roseanne spinoff, saying "you've heard more than I have".

Roseanne Barr hasn't finished pleading her case after a controversial week.

Two of her castmates, Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman, were among those who took aim at their TV mum in statements on Tuesday - Fishman wrote: "I condemn these statements vehemently".

"Attempting to also get phone numbers for Jarrett, Michelle and GS to personally apologize to them tho I disagree with their politics", Barr tweeted. EW said that "Iger apologized and said he would not tolerate those kinds of comments made by Barr, Jarrett said".

If you're hoping for a "Roseanne" spin-off following the show's cancellation, all bets are off for now. Some members of the cast may still receive compensation for the 2018-2019 primetime season, despite the fact that there's no script in the works and no episodes have been filmed. Fans of the original series may recall that young DJ struggled with kissing a black classmate on the original Roseanne series in the 1990s.
