It was an exciting day at Tampa's airport as a service dog went into labor.

Ellie the service dog was accompanying a passenger en route to Philadelphia when her litter decided it was time to make its entrance into the world, reports Daily Mail.

City of Tampa Fire Rescue was on the scene to provide support to the new mother and documented the delivery.

Van Atter's stepmother, Karen James, told the Times that they knew the golden retriever was pregnant, but believed the excitement of being in the airport around so many new people might have triggered the early births. "Especially in an airport", said Kelly Bonnazio, witness to the delivery.

Pictures posted to Tampa Fire Rescue's official Twitter show a crowd gathered around the dog in a terminal.

"The Fire Department was a wonderful help They really were", added Van Atter.

The puppies, their parents, and humans missed the flight.

Paramedics Larry Glanton and Lt Natalie Brown patiently delivered seven male pups, before the arrival - a little girl.

Van Atter says she will be donating one of the puppies to a children's service dog charity.
