In case you forgot, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device just as thousands were leaving an Ariana concert on May 22, 2017.

Afterwards, Prince William met privately with some of the bereaved families and left a handwritten message on a Tree of Hope.

After performances by several choirs, the crowd joined in a mass sing-along of tunes including Grande's "One Last Time", "Look Back In Anger" by Oasis - an unofficial anthem of Manchester after the bombing - and The Beatles' "All You Need is Love".

The hour-long service will include a minute silence that will be observed throughout the United Kingdom.

Some of those who were at the concert will be performing at a special event on Tuesday evening as part of the Manchester Survivors Choir.

"I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day", she wrote.

As the Inquisitr reported last week, Ariana Grande recently opened up about the tragic events that occurred following her concert.

"It was created to strike at the heart of our values and our way of life in one of our most vibrant cities, with the aim of breaking our resolve and dividing us".

Paul also paid tribute to soldier Lee Rigby, who was killed in a terrorist attack near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London, five years ago on May 22, 2013.

Up to 15,000 people packed into Manchester's Albert Square on Tuesday night as the city marked the first anniversary of the terror attack which killed 22 people.

The prime minister said that "such appalling acts of wickedness" would strengthen Britain's resolve "to defeat such twisted ideologies and beliefs".

Mayor Andy Burnham said the anniversary is a day to come together.

On May 22 past year, a terrorist detonated an explosive device as fans were leaving Grande's concert at the Manchester Arena, killing 22 innocent people and injuring more than 500.

People laid flowers and cards in St Ann's Square, which became a focal point for mourners after the attack.

Bells were scheduled to ring out from the town hall at 10.31pm, marking the moment the attack took place.
