We are all under a Slight Risk there. Meyers says any tornado risk would likely be relatively early in the event with discrete or separated storms, and the risk should transition to a hail-wind event as storms form into clusters or line segments later in the day or evening.

Populated areas, including Omaha and parts of Kansas City, will be impacted.

A tornado watch has been issued until late Tuesday night for 40 counties in central Kansas, including portions of the Wichita metropolitan area.

There's a lesser risk for strong to severe storms on Thursday, but the chance is still there. The strongest will have the potential to drop hail up to the size of baseballs, and strong tornadoes.

SUMMARY.Several severe storms are expected to develop along the dryline and quasi-stationary front through this evening. The precise magnitude and location of the most-severe weather remains questionable due to the evolution of storms overnight.

It is also worth noting that Oklahoma and Kansas have not seen a tornado so far this year.

Temperatures on Monday will be up to 20 degrees above normal for the Upper Midwest and Plains with temperatures near 80 degrees possible in Minneapolis.

Ahead of the severe weather it will suddenly feel like summer for the Midwest and Northeast. Milwaukee is celebrating reaching the 70-degree mark, their latest 70-degree reading since 1992. On Tuesday, the activity moves into the Central Plains.

The combination of very warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine and relatively comfortable dew points will make the next few days spectacular in the Northeast. After weeks of dealing with cool weather, temperatures in the Northeast won't even drop below the typical afternoon average by the end of the week.
