Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew Mc Cabe was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions on March 16
21 April, 2018, 13:51
In his appearance on The View, Comey, in his sanctimonious way, condescended to grant McCabe absolution of a sort when he said that "Andy is still a good person" even though the OIG found that he had lied.
In a third conversation with Trump: "As the conversation ended, he said that he hadn't brought up the McCabe thing because I had said he was an honorable guy ..."

McCabe and his lawyers have denounced the IG report and have likewise attacked the criminal referral, while attempting to dismiss its significance.
Now, though, the once venerated G-men seem to be at odds, and some worry that their public dispute threatens to tarnish the institution they once served.
Responding on Friday to that report, McCabe said he believed repeated calls by Trump to fire him had prompted a rush to judgment and an unfair probe into his conduct. And the lawyer for McCabe says he's confident there will be no charges as long as the White House doesn't interfere with this process. It's a sensitive time.
Trump's ongoing anger about the separate investigation of Russia's 2016 campaign interference and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, and what he sees still as the FBI's soft treatment of Hillary Clinton, found a target in McCabe a year ago.
In his statement, Bromwich says the standard for an inspector general referral "is very low".
The referral does not automatically mean charges will be filed, and it would be up to the US attorney's office to evaluate the referral and decide whether to prosecute McCabe. He's met with prosecutors who are in a listening mode, and he's pledged cooperation. The issue, he says, is a misunderstanding, not an intentional false statement. Maybe there is honestly some new thinking in the White House about the best approach here. He's the one person in the world that can wrap up this investigation. Why does McCabe think that's actually a concern here?
The president repeatedly attacked McCabe on Twitter, continuing after the report's release last week.
Regarding another meeting with Trump, Comey wrote: "I again explained that Andy McCabe was a pro".
The disagreement and contrasting memories have burst into public view this week, as Comey has insisted in television interviews that he stands by his account and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department can not tolerate lack of candor.
The Associated Press nearly immediately obtained copies of the memos, which don't reveal much that hasn't already been told by Comey in either his congressional testimony past year or his new book, A Higher Loyalty.
Former CIA Director John Brennan wrote an indignant defense of McCabe when he was sacked, taking aim at Trump in a tweet.
Comey may be hoping the DOJ will expend all its proprietorial energy on McCabe before it gets around to Comey himself, but given the clear-cut case of comparing Comey's sworn congressional testimony to the facts which are now known, there appears to be at least as good a case against him as there is against McCabe. "They've been saying I'm going to get rid of them for the last three months, four months, five months", he said. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America...
Michael Bromwich, McCabe's personal attorney, announced the Andrew McCabe Legal Defense Fund, which will take on over half a million dollars raised from a GoFundMe account to finance the legal proceedings.
But as the sun sets on his once brilliant career and the U.S. Attorney's Office cranks up its legal chainsaws, McCabe shouldn't feel isolated. They may file a wrongful termination and defamation lawsuit against the Trump administration. He said he was notified of the referral "within the past few weeks".
McCabe is thinking about writing his own book about all of this. All right. That's NPR's Carrie Johnson.
It could also trade back, stockpiling mid-round draft picks, which is traditionally a very Bill Belichick thing to do. Others believe the opposite, however, as they've instead accepted defense and quarterback play as their foundations.
