Rumor: Battlefield 5 Battle Royale Mode Being Tested

DICE Working On A Battle Royale Protoype For Battlefield V Rumor: Battlefield 5 Battle Royale Mode Being Tested
Pete Mitchell | 20 April, 2018, 01:43

However, recent reports have suggested that the next Battlefield title is called Battlefield V, that it will release this year, and that the game will take place sometime during World War II.

It's no secret that Battlefield 5 is under development from DICE, but what has indeed come as a surprise is that a battle royale mode is apparently being developed for the game at the moment. Well, let's be real for a moment, who isn't trying to flawless the battle royale formula that led to worldwide success for games like Fortnite and PUBG? A report says the video game company is working on a Battlefield battle royale.

Battle royale is nothing new but the game mode has proven to be quite successful for games like Fortnite and PUBG. In retrospect the game is still a prototype, so anything could happen between now and the release date that may lead to the mode being scrapped.

With its large environments, high consecutive player counts, and comparative wealth of vehicular options, the "Battlefield" franchise would appear to be well placed to explore the battle royale format.

Earlier this week we heard that Activision's Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may have a Battle Royale mode, now it's the turn of EA. That implies the mode features 100 different players slowly fighting it out in a shrinking play area until just one is left standing. On the other hand, the studio could hold onto the mode for inclusion in a later title. The game, which is rumored to launch later this year, is still being developed, but that seemingly hasn't stopped the studio from trying to put together a prototype of a battle royale mode. Let us know in the comments.
