Guardiola Unsure How Long Aguero Will Be Out

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that city rivals Manchester United may pip them to the Premier League crown. As soon as Chris Smalling's well-timed finish struck the back of Ederson's goal last Saturday to give United a 3-2 lead, numerous home fans at the Etihad Stadium turned to each other and lamented their collapse.

Guardiola claimed he has only 14 frontline players available, though only named a few of those out.

Guardiola seems to have caught the bug.

Pep Guardiola has said Manchester City could blow their 13-point lead over Manchester United and fail to be crowned champions.

"He was injured before the (Liverpool) game but made a huge effort to help us for 10 to 15 minutes. We can only try to focus and win at Tottenham and then Swansea", he told reporters.

Elimination at the quarter-finals of the Champions League in particular soured a hitherto stunning season from City as their wait to conquer Europe continued despite amassing a squad worth an estimated 853 million euros (£747 million, $1 billion) in transfer fees alone.

The Argentine was on target in City's last win away to Spurs at White Hart Lane in May 2015, but since then City have lost their last two visits away to Spurs, conceding six goals.

A victory, combined with a United defeat against West Brom on Sunday, would secure the title, but it was put to Guardiola that if City lose and United beat West Brom and Bournemouth before his side play again they may start to feel the pressure. In this scenario United would have cut the deficit to seven points having played a match more.

Guardiola cited the experience of Real Madrid in 2003-04. Now their task is to register five points from the remaining six games.

"We are able to win two games".

"I think Manchester City agreed to it but the other top teams, United and Chelsea I think, they didn't want it", Guardiola said, as reported by Sky Sports.

"I think that was when he should have rested players and gone "right, we've got a big game, we'll win the league, whether it's the middle of April or the end of April, we're winning the league". As soon as we win the first one, the second one will be easier. Of course it can happen, no doubts about that.
