French President Emmanuel Macron said Tuesday he had agreed with visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the need to curb Iran's attempt to grow its influence in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has said it will send a team to Syria "shortly".

The crown prince's trip is part of a global tour that has already included stops in the US, Britain and Egypt. MbS, as he is known, has used the attention to project an image of Saudi Arabia modernising and introducing rapid cultural and economic changes.

The two leaders will discuss the wars in Yemen and Syria, Iran — Saudi Arabia's regional rival — and the fight against terrorism and terrorist financing, the French official said.

"I hear legitimate questions from civil society, journalists about human rights and various sensitive issues concerning your country, (but) I'm also looking at what's going on in the region". Yemeni rebels have launched ballistic missiles at the kingdom. He insisted that Saudi actions in Yemen have been fully compliant with worldwide humanitarian law.

Breham told The Associated Press that French courts have "universal jurisdiction" to investigate the case since the lawsuit was filed Monday while the crown prince was present on French soil.

He and Macron stated their conflicting views over the Iran nuclear deal, which both Saudi Arabia and the US strongly criticize.

He said that after the nuclear deal ends in 2025, what would separate Iran from creating a nuclear bomb is mere days.

Apple has received assurance from Saudi authorities that male and female employees will be allowed to work side-by-side in the Kingdom without facing prosecution, the Financial Times has reported.

They signed a cooperation agreement on research and tourism at the Mada'in Saleh archaeological site in northwest Saudi Arabia.

The announcement about the Cannes film festival came after Prince Mohammed dined last week in Hollywood with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, along with film studio bosses and famed American actors including Morgan Freeman.

Saudi Aramco received the largest share of the value of the deals in an agreement with France's Total for a petrochemical complex in Jubail Industrial City in eastern Saudi Arabia, with an investment of $9 billion.

With a smile on his face, and on the eager faces of other reporters in the room, the crown prince said that he is very careful that his wife and four children lead a normal life that is not affected by his post as the future heir of the kingdom.

But in an apparent setback, the prince's visit to the Paris-based tech start-up campus Station F, scheduled for Monday with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, was cancelled.
