Chinese space station crashed to earth safely #China says space station burns up over South Pacific

Dr McDowell said the China space agency's initial estimate for re-entry was off as it "guessed wrong" about the time the space lab would leave its orbital path.

The Tiangong-1 mostly burned up above the vast ocean's central region at 8.15am Beijing time, said the China Manned Space Engineering Office.

That's according to china's manned space agency.

And finally, a rain of whatever remained sprinkled the South Pacific, northwest of Tahiti and fairly close to Samoa. Space officials had promised the atmospheric disintegration of the 10.4-meter-long (34 foot) craft would offer a "splendid" show akin to a meteor shower. But, the remote location likely deprived stargazers of a spectacle of fireballs falling from the sky.

"It could have been better, obviously, if it wasn't tumbling, but it landed in the Southern Pacific Ocean, and that's kind of where you hope it would land", Tucker said.

On Sunday night, April 1, it met its doom as it largely burned up upon re-entry over the Southern Pacific Ocean at 8:16 p.m. last night.

Quoting CMSEO, the spokesman said that Tiangong-1 re-entered earth atmosphere this morning.

Space.com reports that if someone happens to find a suspected chunk of the Tiangong-1 to not touch it as it may be contaminated with a toxic rocket fuel.

The module - which was used to practise complicated manual and automatic docking techniques - was originally meant to be used for just two years, but ended up serving considerably longer. Chinese astronauts have traveled more than 46 million kilometers in space, performing hundreds of scientific experiments during their missions.

Ms Huang Weifen, deputy chief designer of the Astronaut Centre of China, said that the module provided "precious experience" for building a space station, Xinhua news agency reported.

Control over Tiangong-1 was lost on March 16, 2016. The space station was small but allowed the Chinese to practice docking maneuvers and collect data on the health of the astronauts who visited it.

"No one has ever been hurt by a piece of debris landing from space".

The lack of control was not unusual given that about 15 percent of satellites re-enter the atmosphere prior to the end of their useful lives, he said.

Major General Stephen Whiting of the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California said in a statement: "The JFSCC works alongside government, industry and worldwide partners to track and report re-entries. because the space domain is vital to our shared global security interest. Although it's only aimed to test the technologies for space station, it has many far-reaching effects", Mao Xinyuan, a columnist, was quoted as saying.
