The series, which focused on Hannah Baker's (Langford) suicide-and the consequences leading up to and following that event-stirred up controversy for it's blunt depiction of sensitive topics.

Netflix announced Wednesday that it will add a new anti-suicide warning video before the show's new episodes.

In the video, the show's cast breaks down the fictional nature of the show.

'13 Reasons Why is a fictional series that tackles tough, real-world issues, taking a look at sexual assault, substance abuse, suicide and more, ' Prentice begins, before Langford continues: 'By shedding a light on these hard topics, we hope our show can help viewers start a conversation'.

"The hope is that the steps we're taking now will help support more meaningful conversations as Season 2 rolls out later this year", vice president Brian Wright wrote.

"But if you are struggling with these issues yourself, this series may not be right for you".

Yorkey, who serves as a producer along with Selena Gomez, said the story plays into the national discussion about gun control in the wake of the Parkland, Fla., high school shooting. The Rain is also the first Danish original series for the streaming service, which should give it enough of an worldwide flavor that alone will make the series worth checking out. Bullying and harassment ensue.

Some school districts past year took the step of sending letters to parents warning them about what their children may be watching on "13 Reasons Why".

According to several reports, the filming for the second season had been completed by the end of 2017. There were at least 900,000 more than expected Google searches including the word "suicide". "I'm overwhelmed, you know".

A combined study with Northwestern University's Centre on Media and Human Development showed some startling facts about the reception of the first season and the impact it had on the audience. "What I'm not about is sensationalizing suicide". "I even argued for it - relating the story of my own suicide attempt to the other writers", Nic Sheff, one of the show's writers, said in Vanity Fair before the study was published.

Two California families said their daughters, both 15, committed suicide in April after watching the show, KTVU reported.

Earlier this month, an inquest also heard that schoolgirl Lily Mae Sharp, who took her life aged just 13, was a fan of the show.

"More educational programming and content that shows that help is available, that recovery is possible", said Dan Reidenberg, the executive director for Suicide Awareness Voices of Education, a nonprofit group with the mission of suicide prevention. "I've always felt this show had the ability to start a really important dialogue".

More than half of parents want more guidance from mental health experts.
