Ever since former Cambridge Analytica employee Christopher Wylie revealed how the tech firm exploited Facebook to harvest data and "target the inner demons" of 50 million users, all tech hell has broken loose. Now, a real gut punch to The Zuck has arrived from messaging platform Whatsapp co-founder Brian Acton, who has now urged his Twitter followers to join the movement.

Brian Acton, the co-founder of WhatsApp.

Many people have turned against Facebook after the recent revelation that data of 50M Facebook users was breached in the US Presidential Election, this data played an important role in the outcome of the election. Facebook knew about the data leak back in 2015, but the public only learned after reports in the New York Times and Observer last weekend. Facebook bought WhatsApp in 2014 for almost $19 billion. He added the hashtag #DeleteFacebook. Facebook purchased the app in 2014 in a deal of cash and stock worth $19 billion, Facebook's largest acquisition.

The WhatsApp cofounder left the company six months ago, four years after Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion (the acquisition netted Acton as much as $3 billion from the deal). WhatsApp declined to comment. The committee has a now summoned Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify.

Facebook is being accused of not protecting the privacy of its users.

Earlier on Tuesday, the NY and MA attorney generals announced an investigation into Facbook over the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
