The bill that is headed to Gov. Rick Scott, which he can sign, allow to become law without his signature, or veto, is called the Sunshine State Protection Act. Daylight saving time is in effect in the USA for eight months of the year, and we'll change our clocks this weekend - but why do it at all?

Section 1. Montana standard time. Hawaii, Arizona and several US territories including Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands do not observe Daylight Saving Time, according to the NIST.

Moving to Atlantic time is something that New England states including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and ME have been mulling over - and they arguably need the sunshine more than Florida does.

In 1966, Congress approved the Uniform Time Act, which included a standard requirement on daylight saving time.

"I don't see a reason we have to continue with this back and forth", Chu said Friday.

By the way, clocks change at 2 a.m. Sunday for most of the country except Hawaii and Arizona, which means one less hour of sleep Saturday night, but a much brighter Sunday evening.

Some studies show the clock change can raise the rate of accidents by sleep-deprived drivers and have some adverse health effects.

"The Legislature in Florida was nearly unanimous, almost unanimous, because if the people want this what are we waiting for?" I got a Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee recently that was just shy of Starbucks' exorbitant iced-coffee cost. "Think of it as bonding time". As we move toward that possibility, we may find it easier to save lives and money rather than chase the daylight. Northen areas of South America also do not use DST, while the southern areas like Brazil and Paraguay do observe the time change.

But it didn't last.

Daylight saving time starts this weekend. Who knows? Maybe you'll even stick with it long after your body has adjusted to the time change. Otherwise, abandoning daylight-saving time would effectively put SC in a different time zone between March and November. "A province like British Columbia where we have a lot of great tourist attractions, outdoor tourist attractions especially, if we can give that extra hour on the backside it can actually be a real boost for our tourism industry", he added. Most of these countries are in Asia and Africa.

The UK will switch to British Summer Time (BST) at 1am on the Sunday morning, meaning people will effectively lose an hour's sleep.

IN law also requires that the smoke detectors be either battery operated or hard wired into the electrical system and be accessible for servicing and testing (at least once each six months). "The barbecue industry said it was worth $100 million in additional sales of grills and charcoal briquettes".

Benjamin Franklin originated the concept of daylight saving time as a way to save candle wax.

"Farmers are against daylight saving time because they have to interact with the rest of the nation and world", Prerau said.

Changing the time zone can not be done alone. Daylight Saving Time begins today.
