Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Likely to Skip Under-Display Fingerprint Sensor: KGI

9 Reasons You Shouldn't Buy or Upgrade to the Galaxy S9 now Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Might Not Have In-Display Fingerprint Scanner, Analyst Says

Johnston poured water on the idea that retail orders for Samsung's Galaxy S9 will be 10 to 15 per cent higher than previous year - he estimated them falling some 50 per cent on 2017's Galaxy S8.

Analyst Jeff Johnson from Arthur Wood Research has cited sources in the supply chain who claim that pre-orders for Samsung's Galaxy S9 smartphone are down 50% compared to the number of pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 launched past year. The Galaxy S9's fingerprint sensor is located at a more natural location compared to previous versions - underneath the camera rather than alongside it - which made it easy to get to my home screen nearly immediately since my finger naturally aligns with the sensor. Samsung's smartphones show information like time, date, battery, and notification icons when the display is turned off.

The 3.5mm headphone jack still being around on the Galaxy S9 really surprised me, but in a good way. Newer iPhones and many recent Android phones don't have a headphone jack, meaning you'll have to use the included dongle to attach your current wired headphones to the device. You can purchase the 3D model of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and see more images at the link below.

Both phones support microSD card of up to 400 GB and can shoot videos in slow-motion at 960 fps.

Johnston said weak Samsung demand was bad news for rivals such as Apple as well as suppliers like Broadcom, Qualcomm and others.

S9 comes with a 12 MP camera but which possess a variable aperture - f/1.5 and f/2.4 which can be manually set. On top of that, the Galaxy S9+ doesn't come with a "notch" either like the iPhone X.

It's this feature, according to some, which forced Samsung to hastily relegate the S8 lineup's fingerprint sensor to the back; initially, Samsung expected virtual fingerprint sensing to make it on the smartphone, making this decision when Synaptics failed to deliver. The only phone maker that has actually brought a smartphone with an under-the-display fingerprint scanner to market is Vivo, but its X20 Plus is now only available in China.

Based on the statement made by the analyst, it looks Samsung is going to play it really safe this time just like the Galaxy S9.
