If we take a step back and look at the flagships launched last year, 2017 was a great year for smartphones. Samsung, this time, has listened to the complaints regarding the issue and placed the fingerprint sensor at a comfortable place, below the camera setup.

So, where does 2018's first big smartphone launch fit it? S9 and Galaxy S9+ would have improved features for Samsung's smart assistant Bixby, the company said.

Following its unveiling at Mobile World Congress 2018, Samsung has confirmed that customers in Thailand can pre-order the new smartphones from 10.30am on 27 February to 5 March. They look attractive and pack great hardware.

Another upgrade is the presence of dual speakers on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ (tuned by AKG Acoustics) with one downwards firing speaker, and the earpiece doubling up as the other channel. The camera has a 12-megapixel resolution, and you can additionally record super slow-motion videos at 960fps.

The S9 and S8 aren't hugely different from one another, so what exactly are you paying the extra for? Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones are backed by 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh respectively. Allowing you to quickly lock and unlock the device, and of course, it does have support for unlocking a ton of apps - as should be expected, since that is built into the Android operating system now. But, that's not the case here. On the other hand, the close rival of Samsung in emerging markets, Huawei has also been trying hard to make this foldable miracle happen. Moreover, the update is now only being rolled out to unlocked devices that aren't tied to any mobile carrier.

According to industry sources, the 256GB variant of both the devices will be available only in black. Like, S8 Plus, S8 also has 8 MP front camera. So because they used it more, they needed a phone with better features. It's not a bad thing, given the polished and likable design of S9. Curiously, if you take a closer look, you will notice your own facial features on the avatar, but you can customize it: you can go for a more cartoonish look or change the hairstyle and clothing. Moreover, many sellers have also started offering heavy discounts on S8. The Pixel 2 XL houses the not-as-efficient Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM. That said, it's too early to get excited about foldable phones right now. Samsung Galaxy S9 starts at $720 (or approx Rs 46,500) in the U.S., while the Galaxy S9+ starts at a price of $840 (or approx Rs 54,000 approx).
