Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was named as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy on Monday night.

The finalists are Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Stanford running back Bryce Love and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson won the award in his sophomore season a year ago, becoming the first player in U of L history to do so. Those totals give him 4,340 yards and 41 touchdowns, both second-most in the nation, with just five interceptions on the year.

Mayfield will be joined by Jackson and Stanford running back Bryce Love, and is the favorite to win the award for the first time.

"It's a pleasure to welcome these three outstanding players to NY for the Heisman Trophy ceremony", said Rob Whalen, Executive Director of the Heisman Trophy Trust.

The Sooner quarterback finished with the second most passing yards in the country, piling up 4,340 through the air.

He received the remaining two first-place votes in the survey.

Entering bowl season, Jackson is closing in on the numbers he put up in 2016, when he won the Heisman. In 12 games, Love failed to reach 100 yards just once, and eclipsed 300 yards against Arizona State. Considering he was averaging 198 yards per game in the first seven weeks before he suffered an ankle injury, it's hard to imagine what he could have done had he stayed fully healthy all season. He's the FBS all-time leader in passer efficiency rating (176.03).

The Georgia Bulldogs will certainly have their hands full with Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield in the Rose Bowl.

The victor of the 2017 Heisman Trophy will be announced Sunday night on ESPN.
