Zuckerberg said in her letter that the passenger she was seated next to drank "multiple alcoholic beverages" on the flight, at one point having three such beverages on his tray table at the same time, but doesn't say whether he was served the drinks by staff.

In a typed out complaint, Zuckerberg explained that her seat mate began making "highly offensive sexual comments" as soon as he boarded the aircraft.

Randi Zuckerberg is a former executive of Facebook, the company founded by her brother Mark Zuckerberg.

She tweeted: "The flight attendants told me he was a frequent flier, brushed off his behaviour and kept giving him drinks".

A number of sexual harassment allegations have propped up in the last few weeks, with NBC host Matt Lauer being the most significant. But now she's adding her voice to the chorus of women raising awareness about sexual harassment.

Both Zuckerberg and her colleague reported the traveler's salacious behavior to the cabin crew, who reportedly did not take any action. She also alleged the employees giggled and smiled when asking the passenger in question if he was behaving.

Ray Lane, the Operational Communications Manager for Alaska Airlines spokeswoman, told the Daily News the company is launching an investigation into Zuckerman's claims.

She described Zuckerberg's account as "disturbing" but said the carrier's flight attendants "by and large do an awesome job addressing a myriad of situations in a really, really professional and competent way".

"Which I nearly did until I realized ... why should I have to move?"

Andrea "Andy" Schneider, Alaska Airlines vice president of people, called Zuckerberg's report "very disturbing" in a blog post published Thursday.

Zuckerberg said the flight attendants offered to move her to a middle seat in the back of the plane, but she refused because why should she have to move, when she was the one being harassed?

Within two hours of her Twitter post, Zuckerberg tweeted again saying she had been assured by two executives from Alaska Airlines that an investigation had been launched and the airline had temporarily suspended the travel privileges of the passenger in question. "Thank you for taking this seriously".

"This report is very disturbing", she said. "We want our guests to feel safe".
