Three new lawsuits allege that Apple is infringing 16 Qualcomm patents with the iPhone 7, 8, and X, as well as their Plus models.

Qualcomm Inc. announced to have filed three lawsuits for patent infringement against Apple Inc. on November 30.

Now Qualcomm has filed a new lawsuit against Apple and this on included their new iPhone X as well as other devices.

Qualcomm filed the complaint in the USA district Court for the Southern District of California and alleges that Apple is infringing on five patents, with four of them originating from Palm. The patents in question relate to technologies that regulate power usage by turning off parts of the processor when they are not in use.

With its new ITC complaint, Qualcomm is looking to include Apple's recently released iPhone 8 and iPhone X units in the potential ban for using competing Intel chips. Things have worsened to such an extent that Apple is said to be planning to ditch Qualcomm modems from all its future products including the iPhones and iPads.

Qualcomm on Wednesday sued Apple again, alleging that several iPhones, including 2017 and 2016 models, violate several Qualcomm inventions related to cellular connectivity, power efficiency, and 3D imagery.

Aside from the modems, Qualcomm is also pointing to the multitasking interface of the iPhone X, which is apparently similar to the old interface of webOS.

The ongoing legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm continues to get messier. Apple said the chipmaker was using the lawsuit to "extend its monopoly" in the market by asking the International Trade Commission to exclude its "only remaining competitor". In a related suit, Qualcomm sued the contract manufacturers that make Apple's phones, but Apple joined in to defend them.

The iPhone maker added that it began seeking those patents years before Qualcomm started seeking the "patents it asserts against Apple in this case". It is also claiming that the depth-based image enhancement technique for Portrait mode violates a Qualcomm patent.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook has asked the company's suppliers not to pay Qualcomm any royalties until the two resolve their legal disputes. That includes the latest iPhone 8 duo as well as the more in demand iPhone X now on offer from AT&T and T-Mobile.
